What’s Happening This Month?
News of the Month Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM – Writers Discuss Writing Please join us to share your accomplishments, questions, anecdotes, and comments as we discuss the craft of writing. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM – Reading for Writers Event: Where the Jessamine Grows Reading is essential to the craft of writing. As Stephen King says, “If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write.” Our selection is When the Jessamine Grows by NCWN member Donna Everhart, who has graciously agreed to join us for a discussion and Q&A. We’ll also talk about the importance of literary citizenship—supporting the literary community through reading, writing, and networking—which is at the heart of the Network and Writers’ Morning Out. The book is available online and at several local libraries. We encourage you to read as much as possible before the event. While all are welcome, reading at least a portion of the book beforehand will make the discussion more rewarding for everyone. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM – Writers Discuss Craft with Tracy Crow Please join us for an open discussion on the craft of writing with Tracy Crow. This meeting is open to all writers and offers a fantastic opportunity to ask questions about both the art and business of writing with a true industry expert.
Upcoming Events June – Query Letters and Book Proposals So, what do you really want, dear agent? Carol Phillips will talk about queries and book proposals: what needs to be included in each and what agents and editors said about them at the NCWN Spring Conference. July – Memoirs, Autobiographies, and Creative Nonfiction Carol Phillips will present the art of the personal narrative. All events are on Zoom.
